Nutritionfamily style

Our Head Start/Early Head Start classrooms provide breakfast and lunch each day.  For children attending our full-day program, we also provide an afternoon snack.  We follow the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) requirements and our menus are approved by staff/consultants that meet the Missouri standards of a Nutritionist.  Our meals include:

  • More whole grains
  • More fruits and vegetables
  • Less processed foods
  • Low fat milk
  • Fewer sweets
  • More variety of foods

All of our classrooms in Head Start and Early Head Start practice family style meals.  Family style meals are a great way to introduce healthy foods, model healthy behaviors, and provide opportunities for nutrition education.
